My office has a few favorite organizations we like to partner with as often as possible. One such favorite is the Society of St. Andrews (SoSA) of Macon, which coordinates local community food giveaways throughout the year. Just before Mother’s Day, SoSA called and Dellacona Law Firm brought 1,393 pounds of elbow macaroni to local Crawford County food pantries. In September, SoSA celebrated the billionth pound of food they have given away across the country. This month, we were on cabbage duty.

Troy Cook, who is running for Crawford County District 2 Commissioner, showed his care for his community by helping my husband Sal to pick up the cabbage supply, then he distributed it alongside my staff and myself at Springhill Baptist Church in Crawford County. ShuBee Protective Clothing Supplier operated a Bibb County distribution point on the same day, doubling the initiative’s reach. Together with Choosing a Quality Life (CQUL), Macon Mental Health Matters, the Southern Center for Choice Theory, and of course SoSA, ShuBee, and Springhill Baptist Church, Dellacona Law Firm gave away hundreds of pounds of food to anyone who needed or wanted it.
We’re so grateful to get to meet and interact with our community through these events. To learn more about this initiative, I encourage you to visit endhunger.org. We’d like to thank Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller for his support with this event as well.
