Earlier this summer, Dellacona Law Firm partnered with HOPE Cancer Care Ministry’s charity golf tournament Holes 4 HOPE, helping to raise $12,000 for people impacted by a cancer diagnosis here in Middle Georgia
Standing for Helping Others Promote Encouragement, HOPE Cancer Care ministry is headed by Lizella Baptist Church and provides support to people in our community diagnosed with cancer, as well as their loved ones. Initially founded through a 2011 grant from the Central Georgia Cancer Coalition, a subsidiary of Community Health Works, the ministry now operates through donations, memorial gifts, and fundraisers like Holes 4 HOPE.
Over the years, we have helped many clients who experienced medical malpractice during or prior to their cancer diagnoses, and we see how deeply their lives are affected by their cancer. Their treatments are exhausting and how they must work so hard to find some semblance of normal.
HOPE Cancer Care focuses its support in three directions: Emotional, Material, and Informational. While Dellacona Law has been called upon in the past to help provide informational aid to the organization in the form of legal information about living wills and power of attorney, and this opportunity allowed us to contribute to the charity’s material support initiative. Material support includes regular meals and free transportation for patients, as well as home, lawn, pet, and vehicle care. The charity also provides some funeral and burial assistance.
As a firm, we pride ourselves on equipping our clients with the tools and resources they need to overcome the consequences of painful pasts. Our aim is always to make their futures as successful and healing as possible. However, with cancer, that better future isn’t always possible, and sometimes it’s a race against time to hold negligent medical staff accountable. Still, we see the limits in what we’re able to do for people with cancer in Middle Georgia, and we’re proud to partner with a charity doing so much to support in our community.
